Tokyo's best ryokan
There's certainly no shortage of hotels in Tokyo, as travellers can easily find everything from luxury accommodation provided by familiar global brands to the ubiquitous local establishments dotting the city. What's harder to locate is a good ryokan, the old-school Japanese guest house with tatami mats and low tables.

Sukeroku no Yado Sadachiyo looks beautiful, but the fact that some of the staff in these 'ryokans' don't know English or their ability to speak it is limited would leave me a tad concerned if I were to go there.
